I love how writing poetry makes the truth more deeply a part of you. You are a poet. You are a poem Your Father is writing, and you become more yourself in writing these poems of your own. My favorite line is, "So come my love / Make me your home."
Oh, this is so beautiful and kind, Abigail 🥹 your words speak goodness! I am very grateful for them.
And btw, I love your emphasis on poiema in your bio! The first time I learned about poiema was from NT Wright teaching on Ephesians — that we are God’s “handiwork” is maybe better described as we are God’s “poetry.” 🤍 Has stuck with me ever since.
I’m so happy you picked up on that “Poiema” reference! You made my day. :) What you learned from NT Wright is so transformative. I was reading about how to grow on Substack this week and realizing that the “bio” is supposed to work for you and all that, but what if I only want readers who would be grabbed by the fact that I consider myself first and foremost a poem God is writing? LOL. Maybe I’m being too idealistic. I think I am going to play the long game here. I’m thinking if I get a hundred subscribers the first year that’s totally winning. Thank you for your kind response.
This is a beautiful, well-done poem: the song-like rhythm is mainted throughout, and it so lovingly invites us in to a slower and more abundant approach to domestic life and life in Christ. I love it!
